General Settings

Use General Settings to customise the school identity and control important system-wide defaults.

Open General Settings

From the JestEdu menu, go to System Settings → General Settings.

Find Change Logo

Click Upload and select the school's new logo.

Save

Click Save. The same area can be used to upload and save the school's favicon.

Update school information

Click Edit

On the General Settings View, click Edit.

Update the required fields

Configure the school's information and preferences, then save the form.

Set up a new academic year

Where to goOpen System Settings → Academic Year. Create the new year before assigning students, examinations or fees to it.

Enter the academic year details

Complete Year, Year Title, Starting Date and Ending Date.

Choose what to copy forward

Under Copy With Academic Year, tick only the records you want carried into the new year. Available items include Class, Section, Subject, Exam Type, Student Category, Fees Group, Leave Type, Assigned Subjects, Class Teacher Assignment and Class Teacher Staff Links. Depending on configuration, discounts and marks grades can also be carried forward.

ImportantCopying creates the selected setup for the new academic year. Previously saved academic-year data remains untouched. Review the destination year before clicking Save.

Save the academic year

Click Save, then return to General Settings → Edit and set the new Academic Year as active when the school is ready to use it.

ExampleFor 2027/2028, a school may copy Classes, Sections, Subjects, Exam Types, Assigned Subjects and Class Teacher Assignments, then promote learners separately using Student Info → Jest Bulk Promote.

Settings that affect school operations

Change these carefullyOptions such as result type, fee-login restrictions, minimum due-fee percentage, student admission mode and promotion behaviour can affect many users at once.

The General Settings form also includes controls for admission/staff numbering, maximum upload size, multiple roll numbers, subject attendance layout, the new fees module, fee instalments, access restriction for unpaid fees, minimum due-fee percentage and expense approval workflow.

Advanced/system settings

Queue connection, blog/comment options and similar technical settings should normally remain unchanged unless JestEdu support or the school's system administrator specifically requires a change.

After savingReturn to General Settings View and confirm the school name, academic year, timezone, currency, logo and reopening/vacation dates are correct.
